Re: Hitch Possibilities....something to consider [sgloon] by paisan on Tue Mar 08 17:23:11 PST 2011

Maximum total trailer weight Condition 1000 bs when towing trailer w/o brakes 2400 lbs when towing trailer w/ brakes Ok here is the point I've been making all along. If you get one of those box-in-trailer things that DOES NOT HAVE BRAKES, essentially you will be running across the country w/o an insurance on your car. If that is an acceptable risk, then I say go for it. But if you value your insurance, you may want to think twice about doing that. As for the portion in the car v. trailer. Make sure you put any heavy items in the car as far forward as possible, you don't want to load up the car with heavy items in the rear and the trailer front this will cause the rear to sag. Try to get as much of the load over the trailer axle and in the front most portion of the vehicle itself. -mike Subaru Guru and Track Instructor

Just Rolled over 8,000 Miles by paisan on Tue Mar 29 17:26:39 PDT 2011

Just rolled over 8,000 Miles on the STi today. Decided to do an oil change at the shop since we didn't have any cars on the lift. The Motul looks like it held up well. I pulled some oil for a UOA from Blackstone so we'll see how it actually held up for the 7000 miles it was in there. This time I went with the Amsoil European Synthetic 5w40 w/Amsoil Filter so we'll see how she does with upcoming track season. This year the STi will be doing duty as the Official Pace Car of NASA Northeast. I did her up with front and rear strobes and an Amber light bar on the roof! -mike Subaru Guru and Track Instructor

We have had similar problems with the 2001 Forester. One of our customers has the same issues right now, although we haven't changed out the cat for an OEM one yet. I'll keep you posted if we find a solution. -mike Subaru Guru and Track Instructor
