Just took my (2002) Axiom XS in for the recal and thankfully there are no issues. Some surface rust (live in PA) but otherwise ok. Was told by service manager they have had a few in that were rusted out like yours. Bad part is Isuzu only buys back vehicle at $1,500.00. Anyway, I have the blinking TOD light. It is the 2 speed sensors on the transfer case. One ordered the other on national back order. Could be 3 weeks or longer, so not good on that end. Trying to locate other sensor on Isuzu forums. Part No: 8972516870 If anyone has one please post. Thanks.
last time? November of 2009, coming down the PA. turnpike NE extension (aka, the middle of nowhere) on a cold, crappy early evening. Must have caught some shrapnel, because all of a sudden heard a loud whine. Was (thank god) just approaching the only exit with a real town for miles, and managed to get off and pull into a parking lot of a mini mart. Tire was shredded, and smoking. sidewall totally gone. Did not matter if they were run flats, it was not usable, and no fix a flat can was doing anything! At that point, most tire stores, etc anywhere near there were closed, closing, or didn't have the right tire anyway. so, I ended up on the donut, but being 200 miles from home, stuck overnight. But at least I was able to drive to a hotel down the road, and get to a tire store (about 8 miles away) in the morning, in scenic, downtown Scranton (the Office does not do it justice!). without a donut, what happens? The car gets towed someplace, but where at night? If I had a real spare, then I would have continued on my way and gotten home that night. I refuse to have a car that does not have at least a donut, and if I had a chance, would put a real spare in it.
I just picked up my 2011 Corsa Blue Optima SX from Wyoming Valley Kia/Subarau on Saturday 3/19. Car stickered at $28,975 with Premium Package, Floor mats & Cargo Net. Dealer Discount was $1,985 & I qualified for Competitive Rebate of $500. Bottom line selling price was $26,490. Tax: $1,589.40 Doc Fees, PA Tags & Tire Tax: $217.65 Total Paid: $28,257.05 My sales person at Wyoming Valley Motors made the entire process so easy. The dealers in Pittsburgh couldn't find me a Corsa Blue SX without Navigation, so I searched dealer websites for one until i found this one in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 5 hours away. (They actually had 7 SX's!) I sent an email asking about the car. They replied promptly it was still on the lot & when I wanted to come drive it. I verified optional equipment on my next email. On my third I asked for a price. I had the price in about 5-10 minutes of receiving his first response to my inquiry. No high pressure. They held the car til i was off on saturday with a minimal deposit. Though I did not trade my Toyota in, they were spot on where other dealers were giving me for my trade.
If you mean on my own then no...If you mean have someone else do it then yes. I go to the local AAMCO shop and let them do it every 30k. Seems like it is more of a pain to try to do it yourself.
Had the shocks done today and I'm glad I did not attempt it myself. What a p.i.t.a. The poor guy at Pep Boys ended up cutting off all 4. The tops of the rear 2 and the bottom bolts of the front 2. The rears just because they were ridiculous to get at and work and on the front the lower bolts were rusted solid to the sleeves which pass through the shock itself. Felt bad for the guy so I gave him a nice tip. Anyway cost me $237.00 including a 50% off labor coupon. Not a bad deal for how much of a project it was. Axiom rides like a normal on frame suv now. Not as soft as the "Normal" mode and not as harsh as the "Sport" mode. Went with the Monroe Sensatrac's as suggested.
