Be sure to go post in the Kia discussions to let them know about the REAL recall in your post!!! I checked and you hadn't posted anything there, of course. Having gas tanks fall to ground while driving is a lot more dangerous than running out of gas because the fuel gas is supposedly wrong!!! ROFLMAO "Also Friday, NHTSA said Kia Motors Corp. is recalling more than 58,000 Spectra compact cars registered in 20 cold weather states, including Michigan, because the gas tanks could drop to the ground and cause a fire. "The recall affects Spectra LD models from the 2004 to 2007 model years in 20 states and Washington, D.C. "The cars, built from Nov. 7, 2003, through March 6, 2007, have straps that hold the gas tank to the frame. When exposed to road salt, the straps can rust and the tank can fall, causing a fuel leak and possibly a fire. "Documents filed with NHTSA did not state whether the problem had caused any fires or injuries. A message seeking comment was left for a Kia spokesman. "Dealers will replace the fuel tank straps with zinc-coated parts for free. Kia will mail letters to car owners in June, after dealers get parts to fix the problem. " From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110430/AUTO01/104300325/NHTSA-investigating-865-000- -GM-SUVs-for-stalling--running-out-of-fuel#ixzz1LrzRAmME
I have gone through this entire issue with my 2009 Acadia. Read post #938 or any other posts by me to get the back story on the cars issues. There is a way to get out of that car and into a safer one without the lemon law, that's if you're willing to do a buy back for another Acadia. We did and now have a 2011. The only problems we've had with it (knock on wood) is that my son has broken two clips that keep the seat belts from digging into your neck. This happened due to them being stuck behind the third row while down and then when the seats went back up those got stuck behind and he yanked on them. Also, due to my son, the compartment on the dash he broke the spring that allows it to pop open because he would slam on it real hard to make it pop open. During Christmas I went through a touchless car wash to get the salt off my car real quick and the car wash malfunctioned and tried to rip my drivers mirror off. We had it replaced, but since then there has been this funny rattling/clicking noise coming from the beam near the windshield on the drivers side. We figured something was loose when they installed the mirror. I had the dealership take a look at it when I had my oil changed and they discovered that in the top corner near that beam my windshield wasn't sitting right and not completely sealed so when I drive I'm hearing it shift in the framing. Thank goodness I haven't had any leakage. They have ordered a new GM windshield. Otherwise so far so good. If only I could get the service guys to stop touching the headliner with their dirty hands (they're worse then my kids!) Even with the stain protectent stuff I can't get those marks off of there. It's either a hand print or a water looking stain from where I tried to get a hand print off. Arrggg. Anyhow good luck and be safe!
Well, the price was built in to the final price paid & I negotiated that v. pricing options individually. The dealer did the install. Pics have been sent. You'll notice a small bit of surface rust on the underside most likely due to the road salt used in winter. I'll be sanding that off & priming/re-painting it shortly. You may also note that the top of the kit has a metal plate. That can be used to step up & access the roof. The wiring harness connector is in the lower-right below the tubing. The only downside is the default ball connector is S-shaped and rises up some. So if you leave it installed it interferes with lowering the lower part of the tailgate. So I leave it out. BTW, inside the cargo area on the passenger side is the access hatch for the jack. There's extra space in there so I stowed a pair of gloves to use so I can keep clean if I ever have to change a tire. But there's so much room in there I also put in a self-retracting tow strap. I put the gloves on the strap's ends to keep them from clanking. ;)
Just take what people say on this forum with a grain of salt. Specially the ones who have the audacity to admit they are a car salesman then try to feed you lines. Stop, pause, and use your common sense. As for sales, Honda is struggling with Ridgeline, Element, Odyssey, as well as MDX, RDX. All vehicle under "truck" group is down between 10% and 30%. Another point to remenber is this: Just because Honda does not advertise incentives, specials, etc does not mean they don't exist. Usually, at this point in the model year, all specials and incentives are "carried" without publicity. As I type this, I have dealers calling me offering me better deals than a week ago. I hope this helps some one. G'day mates and happy hunting.
I hate to be a doubting Thomas, but until I see it with my own eyes, I am not buying that diagnosis! Every unit from MO I have seen does not have that kind of rust on it. Years are '94, '97 and 03. All of them are very high mileage, 200K, 275K and 240k respectively and MO salts the roads in the winter! Jack it up yourself and look!
