Bob - one key ingredient in the Tuxedo Black paint in made in Japan: "A Japanese supplier provided a patented substance called Xirallic, used to give the red and black paints a slight metallic glitter. Ford is working with its paint supplier to find another substance that can be mixed in, instead, spokesman Todd Nissen, said." money.cnn.com It also affected Chrysler, Honda, Toyota and Honda. On a positive note, that plant which is 35 miles from the crippled nuclear plant, reopened yesterday. It's a global economy Bob. In fact, the company that makes Xirallic is Merck - a German company. Further, Ford makes cars all over the world and at one time made Model T's in Japan.
All the more reason to retire the Town Cars. Get some fresh stuff in the showrooms. I agree once new product is out. In the interim, since the tooling was paid for long ago, keeping the TC and its fleet business would have provided a nice, steady cash flow.
WASHINGTON (AP) — April was a historic month for wild weather in the United States, and it wasn't just the killer tornado outbreak that set records, according to scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. April included an odd mix of downpours, droughts and wildfires. Six states — Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia — set records for the wettest April since 1895. Kentucky, for example, got nearly a foot of rain, which was more than three times its normal for the month, NOAA reported. U.S. scientists also looked for the fingerprints of global warming and La Nina on last month's deadly tornadoes, but couldn't find evidence to blame those oft-cited weather phenomena. NOAA research meteorologist Martin Hoerling tracked three major factors that go into tornadoes — air instability, wind shear and water vapor — and found no long-term trends that point to either climate change or La Nina. That doesn't mean those factors aren't to blame, but Hoerling couldn't show it, he said. PS So CA still well below normal by about 10 degrees. Barely made it to 55 degrees yesterday. I demand a reduction in taxes. The state is not providing the perfect weather we pay for.
Good morning, Based on your post: General Motors is currently providing a $3,300 cash incentive on 36 month leases of this car through Ally. In addition to this, there is $500 bonus cash. I'm not sure if the $1,000 dealer cash that you mentioned is available in conjunction with the special lease program, but I suspect that it is. Is that what the other poster's dealer was basing their $99 and $129 mo leases on? Could you quote for a 36 mo lease with 0 down, so all taxes, mv fees etc in the lease. Low mileage - 10M per year, excellent 727+ score. Delivery to Plainfield NJ. Thank you. Bob
I, too, just had my CEL come on. The culprit is also the catalytic converter and O2 sensor. The price I was quoted was pretty much spot on with the costs mentioned here. My car has 137K on it. I happened to stumble on this forum...glad I did! I appreciate all the imformation everyone provided here. I was all set to cancel my appointment for tomorrow morning, but will keep it. The one item that really caught my eye was having the two O2 sensors replaced at the same time to see if the CEL goes out. I'll have to call the mechanic first thing in the morning. Thank you, all, and keep up the good discussions and information!
