Here's some of what was in the letter in case that helps you nvbanker. If you took your '08 Escape to a dealer for any kind of service between 3/10 and 8/31/2010 they were supposed to check your VIN to see if it fell in the range of affected vehicles. If you did take it in for service and they did not do that check, and you can prove it, you might have a case with Ford. "(Customer Satisfaction Program 09B10) dated March 2010." "Transmission Fluid cooler in your vehicle may develop a crack and leak transmission fluid. If not repaired, this leak may result in rough/harsh shifting and potential damage to the transmission." "Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to perform the repairs under this program on your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). The Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until August 31, 2010 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners." If you have previously had this repair done, you may be eligible for a refund. To initiate a refund request, they ask that you give your paid original receipt to your dealer before August 31, 2010. "
It turned out to be a faulty transmission fluid valve assembly. One of the valves had failed, making it impossible to maintain proper fluid pressure. Good news was that it was covered (just barely) by 60k powertrain warranty. Bad news was that they had to order the part, and when it arrived it was cracked and I had to take it back a second time. But the dealer was otherwise great and gave me no issues about fixing it.
So you didn't get the letter from Ford explaining this problem and how they would fix it for you for free or pay you back if you already paid for it? It was a "customer satisfaction" campaign they issued early last year and I believe it ended in August or something like that.
Hi its_pford, Thank you for your insight on your buying experience. I live in Pittsburgh area and I am interested in buying a G25x. I have some questions for you 1. If I were to buy the car from Airport Infiniti in Cleveland, Ohio how do I get the vehicle registered in PA? Could you please throw some light on the registration process i.e. when one buys the car from another state. 2. Do you think the G25x's AWD helped you in the snow? is it worth the buy or shall i consider the rear wheel drive? 3. Are you happy with you car? I am considering a few other options and it would be great if you could share your experience with the car. Thanks a ton for your time.
Just replaced my original 225/50/18 Goodyear Eagles with B. F. Goodrich Advantage TA tires. I was satisfied with the Goodyears on my 2008 Saturn Aura, they lasted 32,000 miles and had 3/32 tread left. The Goodrich tires seem to ride smoother, but that may be due to fresher or more supple rubber. They are T rated, 650 treadwear rating, 75,000 mile warranty and they were made in the USA. I couldn't pass up the deal, Sam's Club had them for $105 each which includes road hazard, free rotations and balancing. Installation was free, but that offer ended in April. Thats $453 out the door with 7% tax and $1 disposal fee per tire.
