I assumed when folks on this forum ask "What did you pay OTD", they're seeking to know what the dealership charged you for the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle from the dealership for $31,485 plus a $150 doc fee for a total of $31,635. That is what I called my OTD price. I rolled out of the dealership (out-the-door) having paid that much money to THEM for that vehicle (less, of course my trade and cash down). However, sometime in the next 30 days, I will receive TTL paperwork from the Oklahoma DMV...and make a trip to the local tag agency to pay $91+$15+3%. Since the TTL figures are exclusive to my state, and since they are calculated the same no matter what kind of NEW car I purchase, I did not feel the need to include them in the OTD price. If I'm wrong for doing it this way, I beg your pardon.
I live in Tulsa, OK. Last week I purchased a Smokey Topaz EXL (no RES or NAV) as follows: Car: $31,485 Doc Fee: $150 TTL: In Oklahoma, you typically do TTL directly through the state after the purchase. Tax is 3.25% of the purchase price, Tag is $91, and License is less than $15. It's only been a week, so I'm still waiting on the state to send me the paperwork. OTD: $31,635 We put down $15,000, and they gave me $1000 for my 2000 Accord, which had over 220k miles. Regarding the price of the car...I found one dealer who initially offered this price, but they didn't have my color. So I went to another dealer, who had the color, and got them to match the price. They refused to sweeten the deal at all though. I asked for all weather mats and/or splash guards, but they refused. The price was still good though, so I bought it.
"She should have said her favorite show was the Beverly Hillbillies, then at least she could have been Daisey May." Hey driver-- Her name is Ellie Mae! Donna Douglas is the actress who played her and she lives and hails from OK (Tulsa). I'm ashamed the above trivia. 10 years of college down the drain. Gogiboy
"Yes, I'm on the prednisone, the antiviral, and the pain killer. If a person ever needed to gain weight, they could just ask the doctor to put them on prednisone. I can go through a box of cookies, a bowl of popcorn, and a family size bag of chips in a day!" Richard-- Please be careful with the prednisone. My brother is a pulmonologist and he pointed out the sad condition of comedian Jerry Lewis who has pulmonary fibrosis which necessitates long term prednisone treatment. Have you seen how puffy and bloated Lewis's face (and body) have become? Not a pretty picture. The same thing happened to one of our cats. We just couldn't seem to get her off the stuff for a long time. Boy did she blimp out, but she did return to her original svelte shape within a year or so of getting off the stuff permanently. Our dog who passed away in January didn't fare as well on the pred, prescribed to help with his arthritic spine. It actually really fouled up his GI tract. Conversely, I can't say enough good stuff about pred in the short term, especially treating poison ivy. Gogiboy
Your guess would be correct. Have been through New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Western Texas several times and yes I get your point. I'm thinking totally in terms of the Midwest and East where there is tons of traffic and the roads can be a bit bumpy, curvy, and hilly. Not to mention many pot holes during winter and early spring until they fill them or resurface. I was just making a joke. Like I said my oldest Son is cop and he drives too fast in his own vehicles. He has been pulled over several times, but when they find out he is a cop they let him go. The only exception to that is the Ohio State Troopers. They don't care if your the President. You are getting a ticket if you are breaking the law.
