Historically, gas prices in the L.A. area (or Woodland Hills, to be specific) have ran $0.80 to $1.00 more per gallon than here in Atlanta. My cousin lives in Woodland Hills and we talk almost every week. Just a few weeks ago, she had her first $100+ fill-up in a few years! Her 2007 Lexus GX470 requires Premium and she paid $4.59/gallon for just over 23 gallons. The prices here in Atlanta were running as low as $3.67/gallon for Premium (92 cents less). BUT…as of this posting, the difference is only 20 to 25 cents between the two cities!?? In Atlanta, the price for premium starts at $4.15/gallon and, in L.A., $4.35/gallon…. I have no idea what this means, but it seems like somewhat of a reprieve for some on the West Coast. =) For those of us here in the Deep Southeast, hopefully we’ll be seeing a significant drop very soon!
Austin is slightly higher up than Dallas, which might have an effect also. FWIW, I got better FE this past Christmas driving south down I-35 to Austin than driving back. But there was a stiff north wind on the way home, and some north wind going south to Austin, so wind is definitely a factor.
Haven't ever had to do it on either of my Suburban's (knock on wood). But have replaced them before on my Vette, and a couple on Chrysler T&C. Take off the inner door panel.
True. My 2011 Sonata has 14K miles on it now. In combined city/hiway driving it averages around 25.7 mpg. On the highway, I can usually achieve around 33. This past weekend, I drove from Dallas down to Austin, TX staying around 72 mph and it average around 32.8 mpg. During the return trip, I kept my speed at around the same 72mph and the car averaged 38.7 mpg which is awesome. I also tried to avoid heavy acceleration and used the cruise control as much as possible. For some reason, the trips heading North back into Dallas on I-35 always produce better MPG. The wind usually blows out of the SE this time of year. I think it may be a factor.
Do you still tend to get more shiny reflections off the glass, or has that been tamed? I haven't noticed any real glare problem with either my Pioneer or Panasonic plasmas.
