GPS Confirming MPG by patriotpaul on Sat Apr 30 09:28:45 PDT 2011

I just completed 3/4 of my semi-annual sojourn from FL to NH. Naples, FL to Walterboro, SC, to Winchester, VA to Stamford, CT. Each day my trip computer showed just above 41 mpg in my 2011, heavily loaded XLE Camry I4. As an example, from Walterboro, SC to Winchester, VA, my GPS says the distance was 326.2 miles, time traveled 5:24, average fuel economy 40.1 mpg and fuel cost of $29.24 using a $3.77 per gallon price. I have approximately 6800 miles and will change my synth oil for the first time in September. I am thoroughly pleased. BTW. I'm getting sick and tired of all the whining and belly-aching about fuel prices from the public and lame-stream media. I set my cruise control on 60 and from FL to CT the complainers were flying by me doing 70-80 mph. If they want to *itch about fuel prices do something about conserving fuel! OK, off my soapbox.

Re: no sale [fezo] by driver100 on Sat Mar 26 04:14:54 PDT 2011

I could do that in Naples. Just get a post office box and move every week into another empty house. What a great plan. Then you can publish a book "How to Live on Practically Nothing in Sunny Florida and Get Your Name on as many Will Lists as Possible". I'll get it published and sell it. Then we will make so much we can actually buy our own homes!

If Fezo could stay in 52 different homes for one week he could sell his place and live in a different place every week. What a great plan! I could do that in Naples. Just get a post office box and move every week into another empty house. The wife and kids might not like the plan but what the heck....

There are plenty of other condo's in FLA, and from what what I have been reading, the prices are still trending down. Yes, the deal could fall through, and there are always 1 to 3 units available at any one time. 3 out of 72 units isn't too high considering 1 in three homes in Naples is empty. I agree, house prices will probably go lowerer and prices won't be going up any time soon. Also, it would actually be better if we could take possession in November...later in the year. It's a minor disappointment...and it is a learning experience, and usually these things turn out for the better. I really appreciate your words of encouragement though...it all helps.

Re: Florida Condo Update [houdini1] by driver100 on Thu Mar 24 14:14:54 PDT 2011

"tongue in cheek"....but still a great home for under $100K. I thought that was possible, but just in case, I didn't want to give the wrong impression....mainly that we would have an olympic size pool in our backyard. Just read today in the ritzy Naples area 1 out of 3 homes are vacant! And, almost half the homes in Florida have mortgages that are larger than the value of the house. We are supposed to know if we won the bidding lottery Friday or Monday....if we win great, but if not prices might drop a bit more, so it is up to fate now.
