Re: Cell phones and NAVI units could get you a speeding ticket [fibber2] by robr2 on Thu May 05 11:57:26 PDT 2011

I did hear that EzPass was used in criminal proceedings to track whereabouts (someone denied entering Manhattan in events surrounding a crime, yet the toll records indicated otherwise), but I figured that someday it would also be used in speed tracking. I also heard that regarding using EZ Pass records in a criminal case but IIRC, they had been served with a subpeona to release the information. I venture if it is ever used to issue speeding tickets, the vast majority of users will go back to cash.

True, Rob, I was just siting another way in which your actions can be monitored and guilt assessed. If you are putting your washing machine upstairs & putting A LOT of work into hardwood floors, you should make sure of a few things: I sell a product called FLOOD STOPPER. It is a sensor that sits on the plastic tray where your washing machine goes & attaches to the hose valves for the hot & cold water. If your machine even leaks a drop of water, it will immediately cut the water supply off. I think it sells for somewhere around $125. I have a customer who puts these in Multi-Million dollar apartments in Manhattan. It is cheap insurance. I also sell FLOODSTOPPER for hot water heaters. Make sure all the valves you use are ball type or 1/4 turn. This includes hose cocks & speedy valves. Make sure there is are shut offs located near the washing machine so in case there is ever a problem, you don't have to run downstairs & shut the water off to the whole house. NIBCO ball valves are made in the USA & excellent. They are also expensive. LEGEND ball valves are imported & very good. The best speedy valves made (IMO) are BRASSCRAFT KTR17C (or KTR19C). I like Copper pipe, but your contractor will probably use PEX tubing which a lot of people swear by. Make sure he doesn't use rubber washing machine hoses. BRASSCRAFT makes a braided polymer washing machine hose that is a lot stronger & also more expensive than regular rubber hoses. I sell these for about $15 each. Anything other questions you have, let me know.

A7 lease terms by rpb3 on Wed Apr 27 11:45:34 PDT 2011

I also saw the A7 at the Auto Show yesterday. It's beautiful. I will be coming off a lease on a BMW 530 5Xi at the end of August. I will be in the market for a 36 month (longer if the deal is better), 10,000 mile per year lease with no cap cost reduction. I live in Manhattan, and I understand that putting down multiple security payments may not be available as a way to reduce my monthly cost, at least not from a dealer in New York State (one salesman told me that I could do this by leasing a car from a New Jersey dealership). What might I expect in the way of monthly payments? In addition to quoting money factors and residual values, I will appreciate your ball parking what the actual monthly nut will be before taxes. It is highly unlikely that I would want to buy the car at the conclusion of the lease, so the residual value is meaningful to me only as that impacts the monthly cost. Thank you.
