WOW!!! Going to the dealership cold is brutal. by watii on Thu Jun 26 12:41:09 PDT 2008

I am shopping for an EX-L w/RES Went to three dealerships yesterday here in Nashville, TN area. I have an 04 Ody end of lease to trade in, payoff is $13,301 so I figure it is close to break even, which would save me about $2000 between mileage overage and the last months payment. Dealer #1 Darrel Waltrip Honda: about 5 miles from my house. They refused to buy my vehicle saying miles were too high 72k, but that they would write me a check for $2200 to pay off and turn in lease myself and my payment would be $690. I told them I was not interested in that and they said okay we will turn the car in and pay the costs, your payment will be $670. Their offer on sale was invoice plus about $800 in options plus $750 in profit plus $299 doc plus Tags etc.. Needless to say I left. It was comical, because I overheard the closer tell my salesman that I was a shopper and they didn't want to waste time with me. Dealer #2 Trickett Honda: They offered to purchase my vehicle for $13,900 and sell me the van for $32k, I told them it was too high and they pulled out the old what payment do you want, so I told them $550, he proceeded to take me to the finance manager who told me the best he could do was $670/mo at 4.99%. I told him I was pre-approved through honda and he correctly informed me that the approval was for $ amount, not at a specific rate. I told him my credit score was good and he proceeded to tell me that my score was 600 when I know it is 720's. He gave a story that Honda uses some agency I've never heard of etc, but wouldnt show me. After some conversation he said he could add $2000 to my trade and lower the rate 1% to get me down to $600. I left and told them to call if they could do better. Dealer #3 Crest Honda. They valued my car at $10,500 but said they would roll the difference into my new loan which made the total including everything at $36,600 out the door. He said my payment would be in the $890's. I about fell out of my chair laughing. I told him "I'm no math genius but at 60 mos thats $54K". He asked what kind of payment I wanted and I told him $550 he returned later and asked if I was interested in a model with fewer options. LOL. I sure am glad to know that a dealership would never try to screw anybody. Maybe I should shop Minnesota. The amazing thing to me was that these dealerships each had over 30 Odys on their lots, and I even overheard one of the salesman talking on the phone to someone saying they haven't been selling "poop". I was at dealer No. 2 at 1;00pm and I was the only customer at the store, no lie, 10 salesman sitting around watching EURO Cup. It does confuse me. So anywho, that was my day at three local dealerships. Last night I emailed a few dealers in Knoxville 2 hrs away and have received quotes of $29,100 and $28,500 plus Tags, Tax, title. So I may be headed that way this weekend. I'm sure it will be the same crap when I get there, I'll keep you posted. PS. Anyone else find it odd that a pre-approval only applies to a dollar amount and that the rate is up to the dealers, that's lovely. :P

Re: It takes a long time for Fusion delivery [umcpastor] by igozoomzoom on Mon Mar 14 01:32:00 PDT 2011

I found one more for you and it's located in Atlanta. The only catch is that it also has NAV in addition to the 302A Package.... Here's the specific details- 2011 Ford Fusion SEL 2.5L Bordeaux Reserve Red w/ Camel Leather Rapid Spec 302A package Voice-Activated Navigation System Sticker Price- $29,745 TrueCar Best Price- $25,511* *includes $2k in cash incentives It is located at Wade Ford in Smyrna, GA. Ford is currently offering $2k in cash incentives/rebates on 2011 Fusion models IN STOCK. They also are offering 0% APR financing for 60months, for customers who qualify. The $2k and 0% can't be combined. Something I forgot to mention when I posted the cars in AL and TN is the issue of SALES TAX! If you buy the car from the TN dealer, you will not be charged any sales tax by the dealer. Prior to registering the car in Georgia, you will be required to pay a visit to the nearest Georgia Dept of Revenue office and write them a check for the sales tax! I'm always try to mention that to anyone considering purchasing a car in another state to bring back here. That way, they can hold the tax amount out their down payment, if necessary! I bought my current car in Knoxville, TN back in Dec 2005. I had planned to make a $2500 down payment, but when their finance manager explained the process for Georgia Sales Tax, I decided to put $1500 down and hold that other $1000 back to pay the tax bill. Prior that that, I had always financed the sales tax lumped in with the final sale price of the car and that was the end of it...but it's a little different if you buy out of state. If you were to decide that you could live with the NAV-equipped model above, you would be dealing with an in-state dealer. They'd collect sales tax as usual and it would be financed in with the rest of the loan. Plus you'd avoid visiting the DOR, which is always such a treat! =) ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR YOU TO CONSIDER, if you haven't,..... Are you familiar at all with the Mazda6 sedan? If you didn't know, the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion are both build on variations of Ford's CD3 mid-size car platform. The 2003-2008 Mazda6 and 2006-2009 Fusion shared identical engine and transmission offerings. They still share the 2.5L 4-cylinder as their base engine, but the Mazda has a 5-speed automatic while the Fusion has a 6-speed automatic. Despite having one less gear, the Mazda6 is consistently quicker in acceleration form a 0-30 and 0-60 by up to one full second. The Mazda's transmission is also more willing to kick down a gear or two when you press on the gas, while the Fusion tries to stay in top gear as much as possible to get the best MPGs! On the 2011 Fusion SEL, the 302A Rapid Spec Package adds the following- -Rear View Camera -Power Moonroof -SONY Premium 12-speaker Audio System -BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) -Reverse Sensing System The SEL with 302A stickers for a $28,065 The 2011 Mazda6 i Grand Touring 4-door comes standard with Rear View Camera, Power Moonroof and Blind Spot Information System just like the Fusion. It also has a standard 10-speaker Bose Surround Sound Audio System comparable to the Sony system in the Fusion. Only the Reverse Sensing System is mnissing from the Mazda, but with a Rear View Camera it seems redundant anyway! The i Grand Touring base sticker price is $27,615. For another $1835, Mazda offers the Technology Package which adds some class-exclusive features and the sticker price is still only $29,400! The Technology Package includes the following features- Technology Package- $1785 -Xenon High-Intensity-Discharge (HID) headlights -Auto on/off headlights -Rain-sensing wipers -Heated side mirrors w/ auto-dimming driver's side -LED rear combo tail lights -Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry & Push-Button Start -Driver's seat memory -4-way power passenger seat -Auto-dimming rearview mirror w/ Homelink -SIRIUS Satellite Radio The Mazda comes in a color called Black Cherry Metallic that I think you will like, since you like Bordeaux Red. They can have either Black or Beige Leather interior, but most have the Beige. IF you are interested in checking one out, I managed to track down one in Macon and another one here in Atlanta. Five Star Mazda in Macon has one (Black Cherry/Beige) but it has the optional Technology Package, so it has tons of cool features, but also a $29,400 sticker price. At Jim Ellis Mazda in Chamblee/Atlanta, they also have one in Black Cherry with Beige Leather, but without the Tech Package- the sticker price is $27,615....less than the Fusion SEL 302A,

Won't start/engine SQUEALS/engine hesitates by neveramzda on Fri Feb 11 16:26:01 PST 2011

I got my 2009 Mazda new May 2009. I paid cash. I regret it! First week it didnt want to start. It still has this issue. They say it won't duplicate. I have 42000 miles now. At 6000 miles the engine started sounding like a sqreaching flock of birds resides in the engine. I've taken it in 4 times. The first time it duplicated. They said it's normal. It got much loader. The 4th time yesterday they heard it but said they won't fix it. They need to hear more. They said they don't want to help me. This was in Knoxville TN. It always does it when it's started but I live 45 min from. It also hesitates when going down the freeway at high speeds. You can feel it jump. This happens weekly or more. I have poor visibility out the back passenger side. If people are in the car it's worse. Even children in car sears obstruct my view to where it is dangerous. (I'm 5'4") I do not recommend this car. The MPV was good, but this is junk. It sounds like junk. What is worse is they refuse to fix anything. 2 dealers won't repair warranty work and they are rude about it. Even when it duplicates they put in writing it doesn't. Americans do not need company's like this. If anyone starts a class action suit...I"M IN!!!! Don't be taken advantage of! Also even children can't fit in the rear seats. There is no leg room for a 3 yr old. I have an infant and the way the seat fits no one can sit behind her. The car really only fits 4 right. Plus the 3 yr olds legs get smashed because the seat has to slide and there is no room. She has been injured several times....it's a broken leg waiting to happen!

Re: Pricing a 2011 s Sport hatchback; freight question, too [karhill1] by igozoomzoom on Fri Sep 24 11:50:03 PDT 2010

I just took a look at the Fitz website and the advertised prices are great on most models...I'm in Georgia, but I bookmarked them because I'm planning to trade my '06 MZ3 in the next six months or so. I had horrible experiences at several Atlanta dealerships when I was shopping my '06 back in 12/05! I ended up buying it from a dealer in Knoxville, TN and driving over four hours each way to get it...but I got a great deal and very little hassle from them. I'm willing to consider any dealer within one day's drive for my next Mazda, so thanks! They have one 2010 MZ3 s Sport 5-door still showing in stock. It's Black/Black, Moonroof/Bose package, Remote Start, SIRIUS, Rear Aero Flares and Rear Center Skirt, Bumper Step Plate, Wheel Locks, Cargo Mat, All-weather floormats and Autodim Rearview Mirror w/ Compass (quite a few dealer-installed accessories). The MSRP is $24,795 but they are advertising the Internet Price as $21,603 and that's not their lowest price, apparently...you have to click to request a lower quote. But it sounds like a great deal even at $21,603!
