I purchased a brand new Black Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0 w/o Nav with HomeLink/Ipod Cable/Carpet Floor Mats for $21900 + TTL The dealer was Hyundai of Kirkland here in WA State.
Just had my 07 Tahoe in for the 50,000 mile service. I told them to make sure they check everything related to the battery drain issue. They tested the battery and charging system. The battery was bad (was replaced under warranty 2 years ago at 33,000 miles) and they recommended replacing but the charging system was working correctly and they did not register any abnormal current draw. They said my truck did not need the reprogram because it does not have rear heated seats and there was no other update for it. I did not replace the battery yet and won't put in another Delco. Will probably put in either a Kirkland from CC or an Interstate. Wessy
The Kirkland location perchance? Always cracks me up. I call them "parking stalkers"...I park way out in the secondary lot and walk. Less risk of damage to my car by one of the dumbed down peons, and I still get there quicker.
I've posted before....my 2nd Avalon, just think this car is much better than my 2003.....Here are figures for your information... 1. 9266 miles driven by me......128 miles was driving car from Kirkland WA to Aberdeen WA 2. Total gallons of gas purchased......357.14 3. Total cost for gas........$1017.85 4. Average cost for the 357.14 gallons of gas....$2.85 5. Mileage......25.94 MPG I have gotten as high as 31+ mpg and as low as 21.5 mpg...like a few others, I love the 6-speed transmission and have been know to "hot rod". Car will go over 105 mph and still had petal. 268 HP is awesome....would have been something special in the 60's..........quickness and great gas mileage.....I remember gas at 13.9. Can tell you for sure that straight gas, without the ethanol, will get you 2 - 3+ miles per gallon more but you spend more for "straight gas", IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND IT.
You are correct--Seattle is a challenging market for Odyssey buyers. The term "over his cost" is pretty vague. Does that include any holdback that Honda pays the dealer? How about marketing support from Honda to the dealer? There is currently $2000 in Honda factory to dealer marketing support, good only on purchases. Most dealers are pretty upfront about passing that directly through to buyers. My opinion: with a limited amount of shopping, you should be able to purchase an Odyssey in the Seattle area for $2500 under invoice. Other areas of the country are seeing deals at $3000-$3500 under invoice. For leases, the dealer doesn't get the $2000 marketing support, so your equivalent purchase price will be $2000 higher. I believe you will have better luck if you look outside the Seattle/Bellevue/Kirkland area. Try Everett, Lynnwood, Burien, Fife, Auburn, South Tacoma. (I leased a 2008 Touring end of January from Hinshaw Honda in Auburn and was happy with the deal.) Even if you are leaning toward doing the deal with your acquaintance, I'd suggest taking an hour to email the Internet sales departments at a handful of area dealers and ask for their best price on an Odyssey at the trim level you desire. Find the Donkeypunch post (#16934) from October 2007. That will establish the negotiation-free market price for the Odyssey in this area and you can feel good (or bad) about the deal your friend is offering. Good luck.
