right on! I was actually really impressed by how well the '66 VW Fastback protected both us punky 16 y/o's. I was playing in the snow...doing donuts and then I spun out and headed towards an open spot in the furniture store parking lot at Perrinville, WA. Perrinville is just north of Lynnwood, WA, about 15 miles north of Seattle, where I grew up. I actually grew up in Edmonds, WA, which harbors a Washington State ferryboat route that runs from Edmonds to Kingston. One day I might want to return to my homeland. I'm living in northern Idaho right now-about 311 miles east of Seattle, so really not all that far from the homeland. But when I came out of that last donut I gunned the gas pedal and told my friend "watch this!" I headed straight for an open spot of the lot, then realized I was heading towards doom-dome and hit my brakes of all things! Dumber than a sack of glazed donuts! BAM! We hit that large boulder and tried to climb up it all at one time. Broke the VW's horn off the steering wheel and cut my wrist with it. It was spurting blood out at a pretty good clip. I pinched the wound shut but my friend was afraid I was going to bleed out so he took off his white t-shirt and I tied it around as a tourniquet over my wrist. We hit our heads enough to leave small bumps, too. A lot of people now would go to a nearby ER to get checked out but we figured we'd better not push our luck. Here's the kicker...Dad just had it towed to a body shop and had the front end fixed-I think the bill came to around $1,500-$1,750. He never chewed me out-not even a little "what were you thinking" line, or anything! I could not believe it! Not that I felt good about it. Dad evidently had his own story from being in the service and buying an Anglia or something...a small sporty car...he bought it with his buddy and later wrecked it over in Europe before he could ship it back here. I think he felt that my wreck at 16 years of age too closely mirrored his in foolishness and he cut me some slack. Or he was just simply too busy at that particular time to chew me out about the stupid wreck...which might be closer to the truth. ;)

when you were in London, Ontario, you were dangerously close to the home of my 3rd favorite rock band's home town. The Tragically Hip hails from none other than Kingston, Ontario. London is about what, 30 miles from Kingston, Ontario? Lucky dog, you. ;) imadazol97- Beyond them, the government devaluing the dollar by printing so many more due to the deficit in order to buy our treasury bill sales is causing the price of real materials to rise and oil is one. If the dollar increased in value back to what is was, the oil would cost less despite the speculation raising it. Add to that a third war destabilizing a small supplier of oil and 108$ is what we get. I don't think the American dollar is ever going to go up in value again. I mean lasting rise in value. We've got too many political forces keeping the value of our dollar down, and one of those is our relationship with China. Without turning this into a political debate, I'll leave it at that. Gas was $3.59 at the Holiday Gas Station in little Hayden, ID, yesterday. I was there getting ghastly after getting a couple of Hankook 215 45R 18" slicks put on my '08 Lancer GTS. Total price for those 2 Hankook's you might ask? $401.04. Whew! Glad I can get 40,000 miles outta my 30,000 radials! Yikes, them are b&&l-busters there!

Re: Lease Newbie [wallstreet1234] by nygene on Wed Mar 09 22:10:33 PST 2011

Wallstreet- Did tha price fro DiBlassi include the moonroof also? That would factor into how good a deal is....i am looking for 15k lease, and got prices for SEL with Navi, 202A, and Roof, but hard to compare bc of the 15 k mile lease Re Pilot, yes, that 1500 from Honda for wear and tear is standard for Honda Corp, not dealer...I tried to get that type of info from the Ford Dealer in Kingston NY, but doesnt seem like they have standard like that, he was more nebulous Kingston Honda Pilot EXL (but no Navi) 1053 down, 483 month, 36 mo, 15k miles....pretty good. Joyce Honda in NJ was similare $10 month cheaper

Re: 2 DEALS_ !! [gatorbaiter] by nygene on Tue Mar 08 08:35:19 PST 2011

Gatorbaiter that EXL seems like a good deal. What is dealership? What did you mean by TLC in discount? This is better number than I got from Kingston Honda in Ny. So would like to call your dealership!! Pls let me know. Ps-- have you read about the braking distance issues with the Pilot? Not a worry for you that the braking distances are longer than competitors

"...Repair the AC..." Now that sounds like a plan. If the fan and the AC are interconnected as you say that might be all it needs. Thanks. As to the typical Corvette history all I can say is LOL. This one was supposedly owned by a doctor in Kingston NY from 1984 until around 2006 when the current owner, a guy in his 70's bought it. I ran a Carfax on it and it came back clean for accidents (at least back to 1996 when Carfax started). I get the impression that the current owner doesn't want to sell it but his wife doesn't want him putting any more money into it. As I said, my kid has hot pants for it so my opinion isn't worth much. Thanks for the advice on the fan.
