Comming home as a winner from the Casino I was on I-55 heading north from Joliet when a BMW X5 passed me. Well almost passed me, got to where its back bumper was equal to my front tires and slowed down to match my speed. It then turned on its turn signal and matched my speed for about a quarter mile. Now I had my cruise control set and didn't touch it nor the gas pedal so I know it wasn't me. He just stayed there for about 15-20 seconds with his turn signal on then gunned it and swerved into my lane.
I decided the Touring wasn't worth the extra 4K to me personally and went with the EX-L Res/Nav for $29,854. I debated about waiting until tomorrow to see if the incentive got any better but ultimately, didn't want to take the chance that the $2K would be replaced with something not as good for me (like a better financing deal which I didn't need). I wanted the Nimbus gray and the Touring wasn't available anywhere locally in that color anyway so I decided to go with my original plan. I also negotiated a really good deal on Hondacare. The dealership (Honda of Joliet) was fantastic, professional, no BS. Its my 2nd Odyssey purchase from them and I'd highly recommend them.
I would go back a page or 2 and read HONDAFAN78's posts... seems like he/she? did quite abit better than $31K for the RES/NAV in Chicago area. Think I read their quote below was from Joliet.... I just got a quote for $29,854 (plus $150 doc which is standard for this area, t/t/l) for the EX-L w/ RES & NAV in the Chgo area. All my quotes were w/i $600 of this price. Debating between this and the Touring (lowest quote of $33,644) but can't decide if the Touring is worth nearly $4K more. If I go with the EX-L w/ RES/NAVI, my goal was to get it for for $30K or less, but this seemed way too easy.
That was from Joliet but Orland, Aurora & Lisle were all close. Doc fee was $150 w/ them all. (7% tax at 2 and 7.25 at the other 2). All have Nimbus gray on the lot. I have an '02 EX-L w/ DVD that I got from Joliet and I liked them back then. I'd like the power tailgate, bluetooth and upgraded sound system--I just don't know if I'd like it enough to pay that much more for it. The dealers being so quick to offer a $30K price on the EX-L + RES/DVD makes me wonder what else I should ask for. I haven't been in the car market for a while so I'm wondering if Honda would be likely to increase their rebate as the economy worsens or if dealers would be willing to give up some of their holdback.
We purchased an 07 EXL in late December for just under 25,300 (plus $57 doc fee & TTL) at Honda of Joliet with no trade and 2.9 financing. As others have said, it really boils down to supply and demand. Use the internet to your advantage and "cast your nets" as far as possible to find the most competitive pricing. Good luck.
