You said that you didn't want to move to a climate that was too cold. Though we would love to have you in North Carolina, I do need to warn you. We have the mountains, the Piedmont, and the coastal regions. I live in the Piedmont (middle fo the state). The last three winters have been pretty cold between December and March. We had an unseasonably cool temperature of 39 today for a high. Naturally, the mountains would be out of the question for you. If you're moving here and still wish to stay warm, I would recommend some location in the Coastal Plain. Places like Wilmington, Southport, Elizabeth City, Morehead City, Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, etc. are nice---but pricey for real estate. Raleigh, Chapel Hill---but NOT Durham are also nice. Chapel Hill real estate is out of the question. There's no room left for building, and resales are out of the roof because of the high demand. The Pinehurst/Southern Pines area where we live is very nice, but can get pricey depending on what you want. We live in a small village outside of Pinehurst. There are now 79 houses for sale in the village, ranging from $1.4 million to $325,000. These old people die at the drop of a hat, and their children put the houses on the market. Still, there are some good deals to be made. We're getting some military traffic because we are only 45 minutes from Fort Bragg. The officers don't want to live in Fayetteville---home to Fort Bragg. It's a rough town with a poor school system. We have a pretty good school system here---though i wouldn't recommend any public school in this country today. That's another story and just my opinion based on personal work experiences. If I can assist you and stickguy in any way, don't hesitate to let me know. We live only an hour from Raleigh and ninety minutes from Greensboro. North Carolina is a pretty state, no matter where you decide to live. Richard
I just paid $14,600 ($13,708 without tax, tag, and documentation fees) out the door at Lee Hyundai in Fayetteville, NC for a Nordic White five-speed 2010 Accent SE three door. I handled the whole thing over the internet and the dealership was great. They beat every other dealer I talked to on their first offer.
Sure, I purchased my vehicle in North Carolina. Any of the North Carolina dealerships would match that price with each other. The Fayetteville, Cary, Greensboro, and Chapel Hill dealerships all are located close to each other and they will match/beat anyones price. These dealerships really want to sale a car. The most helpful and friendliest dealership was Fayetteville, NC.
Sure, you looking for Tulsa or Fayetteville? The dealer in Fayetteville gave the best price, offered to drive it to Tulsa and even helped me enforce the price guarantee in Tulsa. My salesperson in Tulsa was very nice, too, but the dealership in Fayetteville went the extra mile. Circumstances of timing kept me at the dealer in Tulsa, rather than AR, as by the time I had the final, best offer from Arkansas, I had a handshake agreement in Tulsa. Thus the pricing guarantee business in Tulsa. I've asked the Arkansas sales person if he'd like his name used on here. Waiting for email reply. Dealership is Lander's Honda of Fayetteville.
I just finished up a purchase of a 2008 Odyssey EX-L @ Joe Marina Honda here in Tulsa. After all was said and done, paid $26,832 OTD, including roof rack cross bars, and $10 lien entry fee. Did I get a good deal? Also took advantage of the 3.9% for 60mos. financing. Thing is, I'm planning to buy the all-weather floor mats (have the first little-one on the way next month, so we need some spill-protection). Dealer said he'd put them in the trunk for me to 'install' at his cost for the floor mats. He's telling me that his cost for mats that list online for $209 is $163. I've found them for $149 at online stores. Seems like his cost should be more like 50% of retail. I got the same story for the cross bars. Anyone have some experience with this or advice? Thanks for your help!! BTW, Lander's Honda of Fayetteville was super helpful in this, too. More on that later.
