Good morning everybody. I'm interested in buying a Pilot EX-L w/ Navigation (4WD). I live in Fairfield County, CT (10 miles from the NY border) & am interested in anybody's buying experience in NY or CT. Can anyone recommend a dealership in the area with an excellent service department? I test drove the Pilot @ Honda of New Rochelle last week. I was pretty impressed with the ride. I'm interested in the Pilot for it's size, 4WD capabilities, cargo space, amount of LATCHes for child safety seats, and value. I'm interested in the EX-L w/ NAV as opposed to the Touring because it is cheaper, I don't want the rear entertainment system, & like the wheels on the EX better.
After going over a few truecar.com leads I finally purchased a 2011 Sienna XLE AWD for 37357.60 + $55 doc fee + registration and sales tax (Sandy Beach, Nav, Premium, Mats and Sill Protector). If you live in SF Bay Area I would certainly recommend Fairfield Toyota Internet Sales Director (good price, easy to work with)
Where in CT are you? I live in Southwestern Fairfield County and MDXs are all over the place here. Buy this particlar MDX if you love it. Don't get hypnotized by the low miles. In fact, higher miles means the truck was actually driven. A low mileage car might have only gone a few miles a day. To the train station & back, or just to get groceries & do some light mall duty. I wouldn't be afraid of a higher mileage MDX. You are buying an Acura after all. Ypou could probably find an MDX Tech with 40,000 miles (still under warranty) for that price. The MDX is an '08 - 3 years old. Acuras do hold their value really well. Figure the MDX is worth 55% of its original value instead of the normal 50%. No way the dealer bought that car for $26800 & is selling to you for $27XXX. Unless they sold him whatever Lexus he bought at full sticker. Shop around before you buy this one.
I was in a dealership yesterday looking at a 2011 LE and was told (reluctantly) that the money factor was .00011 (.26%)...which is Tier 1 financing and the residual on 12/36 was 58.5%. After a $500 rebate and rolling $1017 in fees in with $0 down , including sales tax, my monthly payment was ~$282/mo. The money factor is outstanding and the residual is good...my particular issue is that with an MSRP of $23,490, I was offered a sale price of $22,643. That discount is only 3.6% and too low for me to accept. Any idea what would be a more reasonable offer in the marketplace (I am in Fairfield County, CT) ??
Let's say you teach in Fairfield County, CT - that's near NYC. Median home price is $550,000 - tough to afford on the median household income of $80,000. Now Windham County, CT - next to RI is cheaper to live in. Median home price is $150,000 but median household income is $58,000. In general - the southwestern corner of the state is brutally expensive but most populated with COL getting cheaper as the state spreads northeast. Heck, there are people who live in Windham County and commute to Worcester and Boston, MA because it's reasonable.
