Re: Seattle Area Pricing [traviswalken] by berkut027 on Sat Mar 22 20:21:56 PDT 2008

You are correct--Seattle is a challenging market for Odyssey buyers. The term "over his cost" is pretty vague. Does that include any holdback that Honda pays the dealer? How about marketing support from Honda to the dealer? There is currently $2000 in Honda factory to dealer marketing support, good only on purchases. Most dealers are pretty upfront about passing that directly through to buyers. My opinion: with a limited amount of shopping, you should be able to purchase an Odyssey in the Seattle area for $2500 under invoice. Other areas of the country are seeing deals at $3000-$3500 under invoice. For leases, the dealer doesn't get the $2000 marketing support, so your equivalent purchase price will be $2000 higher. I believe you will have better luck if you look outside the Seattle/Bellevue/Kirkland area. Try Everett, Lynnwood, Burien, Fife, Auburn, South Tacoma. (I leased a 2008 Touring end of January from Hinshaw Honda in Auburn and was happy with the deal.) Even if you are leaning toward doing the deal with your acquaintance, I'd suggest taking an hour to email the Internet sales departments at a handful of area dealers and ask for their best price on an Odyssey at the trim level you desire. Find the Donkeypunch post (#16934) from October 2007. That will establish the negotiation-free market price for the Odyssey in this area and you can feel good (or bad) about the deal your friend is offering. Good luck.

backy's right, Kia and Hyundai have arrived, quality-wise. You've got nothing to worry about. Every carmaker builds some duds. Someone disgruntled could leave a wrench in the works somewhere, for instance. Like what really happens at my former employer, The Boeing Company of Everett, WA. The IAM Union has some really, should I say, rugged individuals. Individuals who feel warranted to stand up and be counted in amidst all of the out-sourcing and hardball antics the planemaker throws their way. Boeing is not a nice company to work for. I know. I was laid off twice from them. But they do succeed and I have to respect them for that. Alan Mulally, current Fo-Mo-Co CEO, was the CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes while I was there. I am really impressed with the job he did there at Boeing's and now the job he is doing at Ford. My point is that there are always going to be some unforseeables with manufactured products. The reassuring thing with Kia and Hyundai and Mitsubishi is their Warranty. They will expect you to maintain your vehicle and if you do, you'll be fully completely covered in your 2011 Kia Optima. Do you still want that red? Red, red, I like red, red's the one that I like best. Technicolor red. Oh yeah. Keep us posted man, you're desiring a very, very well-built and fine car in the 2011 Kia Optima.

Re: Price quote 2010 Fit Sport Auto [hpcarbuyer] by tunaman4u2 on Thu Aug 26 09:01:38 PDT 2010

I bought my 09 Fit Sport Auto from Honda Gallery in Reading, MA (15min from Boston) for 16,800 including all. Been a great car. Check them out, Honda Boston in Everett didn't want to go lower.

2010 CR-V LX Tango red 4WD by goriotf on Mon Aug 02 22:05:19 PDT 2010

Accesories added: mud guards trunk tray leather steering wheel roof rack decor package Out the door price of $25,964.39 in Everett, WA. I think I got a fair deal. The first two dealers that I dealt with were very good and easy to deal with. Had a little showstopper during the last phase with the finance guy. He was trying too hard to get me in to their in-house dealer financing. He tried to pull a trick on me when he said I will pay a lower monthly than what I will pay from my credit union when in fact he was just extending the number of months from 60 months to 72 months. Other than that, overall it was smooth, although the whole transaction still took me about 4 hours (including the test drive)
