Re: Test drove a new Jetta [cannon3] by steve_ on Fri Apr 29 19:54:52 PDT 2011

Chattanooga is building the 2012 version, which is different from the 2010 one that's out there now. With a $20k sticker price though, the cheapness will likely be even more evident.

New Passats rolling off the Chattanooga assembly line by steve_ on Fri Apr 29 18:19:04 PDT 2011

They won't be shipped until the second half of this year. "Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield, who helped recruit the automaker, said the success of vehicles built at other assembly plants that have opened in the South shows there is no reason to doubt that Volkswagen's Passat will be a winner. "We went through all the jokes when Mercedes started their plant" decades ago in Alabama, Littlefield said. "All the jokes about whether Southerners can build cars. We can and not just NASCARs and hot rods." VW ready to start rolling new Passat off TN line (Yahoo)

Re: 405 mile tank [fezo] by steve_ on Sat Apr 09 17:46:06 PDT 2011

$3.89 $3.75 $3.65 $3.55 That was regular in the UP, then Illinois, Paducah KY and hit the cheapest here in Chattanooga (although I don't need any more yet). Had another 400+ mile tank. that one got one 25 mpg, all going 5 mph over the speed limit usually.

Re: Best GA/TN price [shifti] by adster on Tue Apr 12 06:46:44 PDT 2011

Yes, those quotes include destination. Basically, Economy Honda in Chattanooga quotes $32,085 (includes destination) + $500 dealer/doc fee. Gerald Jones Honda in Augusta, GA said they could beat it by $500, i.e. they would charge $32,085 out the door (so you could look at it as them dropping their dealer/doc fee, or dropping the price to $31,585 and adding a $500 dealer/doc fee).
