I just bought a Brand New 2011 HHR LS auto with 11 miles on it and it is already rattle a little bit from the dash with only 142 miles on it. I had a 2010 HHR and it had rattles in it as well and I ended up getting rid of it because 4 dealers could'nt fix it. This time I would like it done right. I love the car ,but not the rattles. I rented a 2009 HHR LS from Alamo with 33000 miles and it didn't have any rattles or issues. Please heip me, advise me.
We're away for a week or so and I got to pick from some rentals at Alamo. Choices were a previous gen Optima, Cobalt, Journey, HHR, previous gen Corolla or latest Corolla. I've driven HHRs before so I picked the brand new Corolla. The good: Pretty roomy. Big trunk. No rattles. Everything looks assembled well. Car is fairly quiet. Radio sounds pretty good. Engine much more refined sounding than a rental Corolla I had about six years ago. The bad: New taillight design looks like the third grafted on set of taillights to the same old body. Doors feel and sound tinny when closed. Engine growls a bit when accelerating from a start. Hard plastic everywhere. Dash is kind of a silver-beige that I wouldn't call appealing. Overall: This car is really practical and decent. It doesn't have much of anything that is offensive. I'm sure it will be very reliable and I can understand why somebody would buy one if they needed decent transportation. But there is nothing that would make you fall in love with it, either, except perhaps for the reliability.
I've got a Tahoe booked through Alamo in Denver.. a full week for $365, including all taxes... We are worried about that being big enough for all six of us, plus luggage, so we've got a full-size (Impala or equivalent) on stand-by... $195 for the whole week... not a bad price!
When we visited Victoria BC it was all Toyota in the rental agencies. I think the exotic car rentals are more into Porsche and Ferrari than luxo barges like Lexus. Alamo rental in Hilo has at least a couple Escalades in their pool. I tried to reserve one and they never seem to be available.
Okay.. maybe someone knows this... I'm renting a Tahoe next month that seats 7... I just assumed that it was in a 2-3-2 configuration... But, my neighbor has one, and he says he has 2nd row buckets, and that the 3rd row seats three... Anyone have an idea of how the rentals are configured (Alamo/National, in this case)? It matters, because I was hoping to fold down half of the third row, but I'm not going to be able to do that, if I lose 1.5 seats, because I still have to seat 6.
